Alright, I finally got the grades done for the exam and posted the updated grade sheet. Here is the breakdown.
- Class Average: 82%
- Class High: 99%
- Curve: 0% (no curve needed)
Overall the performance was very good, especially considering the Winter2012 class averages were around 72% with a ten point curve.
Class will be in the JM209 Room tomorrow, then we will decide whether to move back to JM151.

After I complained to people above my pay-grade and suggested that I might need to discuss things with OSHA the administration has decided to move our class outside of the building and suspend lab until the roof work is done. This should only impact lab tomorrow, if the current schedule is kept, but make no promises about that. I’ll inform you about the new class room as soon as possible.

Every professor schedules one day into his schedule for missing due to unforeseen circumstances. While I am not planning on missing I do know it will be a distinct possibility. The 4 mm kidney stone I thought I had is in fact a 9 mm stone. Stones of that size almost always need intervention to remove and that takes a day (from past experience). I am hoping to schedule it such that a colleague can come in for that day, but we will have to see. I will keep you all informed.

Alright, I finished the grading for BIO162 so far, and attached are the grades. You will note three columns at the end. The total number of points (out of 910), the current grade and a column named “PTN.” The grade you have accounts for the dropped WQ, L and LQ, all that is left is the final exam. If you skip the final exam, this will be your final grade. The “PTN” column is the grade needed on the last exam to move you up a letter grade.
The PTN grade is calculated the as the difference in points between you and the bottom of the next letter grade added to your lowest exam score. NP means it is mathematically impossible for you to score enough points to change your grade. YES, I added the two points to Exam 3.

Alright, attached is the grade sheet for CEM131. This includes all grades through the last week. There is only one grade left and that is the final exam. The grades are calculated with the final column being “PTN” This is the grade you have to get on the last exam to raise your grade to the next level. If it says “NP” that means it is mathematically impossible to raise your grade at this point and “NA” means that it is impossible to go any higher than a “4.0.”
