It was pointed out to me that the PDFs of the PowerPoints were not printing correctly for the Mitosis and Meiosis chapters. I do not know why, but I think it may have to do with the backgrounds used in the files. I will be trying some different backgrounds to see if that affects the print time. In the meantime, I have posted the original PowerPoint 2007 files for each on the website. You can open .pptx files in earlier versions of Office, just download the compatability patch from Microsoft.
Congratulations, there was not a curve applied to the exam scores. The class average (and median) was 77%, with a high score of 96%.
The projector in 217 was out today and I do not know if it will be repaired by tomorrow. It might be in your best interest to print out a copy of the PowerPoint provided in the file section for Meiosis.
File is located here.
Just a quick reminder that you are allowed a 3X5 note card for the exam on Monday.
Today is the brithday of Dr. Walter Gilbert (b 1932) a noted chemist and one of the founding fathers of modern molecular biology. Dr. Gilbert was awarded the 1980 Nobel Prize in Chemistry (along with Sanger and Berg) for their pioneering work into determining nucleotide sequences. The work on nucleotide sequencing has led to much of the modern genetics revolution and our understanding of modern biology. Dr. Gilbert continues to be active in biology and has founded a number of biotech companies.

After evaluating the materials available on the website for Unit III I have determined that you do not need a seperate study guide for the Unit. You should focus on the materials in Chapter 8 (or Molecular Genetics under the core concepts section). These materials along with the practice from the assignment will provide you with adequate prep for the exam.
