Glycolysis
- ATP (2)
- NADH (2 = 6 ATP)
- Total = 8 ATP / Glucose
Pyruvate to Acetyle CoA
- NADH (2 = 6 ATP)
- Total = 6 ATP / Glucose
Kreb’s Cycle
- NADH (6 = 18 ATP)
- FADH2 (2 = 4 ATP)
- ATP (2)
- Total = 24 ATP / Glucose
Overall Total = 8 + 6 + 24 = 38 ATP
This is always a challenge when you work without notes during lecture, sometimes you miss one stupid little detail.

Since the last update to the website a number of you have expressed concerns with the lack of Internet Explorer (IE) support. I understand this problem, especially given JCC’s rather slavish devotion to all things Microsoft (hey this is my site I can say what I want to
). Here is a list of alternative browsers that work with the site and where to get them. The “Portable Version” is a file that can be installed to a USB key and carried between computers and run directly off the USB key (an excellent way to use software on JCC computers) and the “Installable Version” is the classical version of the program that can be downloaded to your computer and installed.
Google Chrome – Portable Version / Installable Version – This is probably the leanest full feature browser out there. It works lightning fast and renders webpages extremely well. I recommend this browser for anyone looking for a quick simple solution. A plus is that it operates on JCC computers and can be installed on a USB key.
Opera 10.0 – Portable Version / Installable Version – This is the granddaddy of full featured alternatives. This browser is probably the most standards ready one out there, but suffers from being almost too complex. It can do everything and as such tends to be daunting to new users. It operates behind the JCC firewall, but its built-in email features will not function through the JCC firewall (this doesn’t affect web performance). One of the best browsers, but not for the faint of heart, only recommended for advanced users.
Firefox 3.5 – Portable Version / Installable Version – The main contender to IE’s dominance. This is the browser I use on a regular basis (I use my own computer so I don’t have to worry about the JCC firewall), and I highly recommend it. The real selling point to Firefox is its ability to be enhanced and expanded through its wealth of Extensions and Plugins. Chrome is putting a dent in Firefox’s dominance, but still lacks the maturity of Mozilla’s offering. It can be used on any personal computer on JCC’s network, but cannot be loaded onto JCC’s computers due to an antiquated IT decision to ban its use.
There are a couple of other browsers out there (Safari, Midori, etc.) but in the Windows environment these three are the best substitutes for IE (if you are on a Mac I assume you are using Safari anyway). Push to comes to shove I would have to recommend Google Chrome for USB key applications and Firefox for installed application.

Both the BIO131 and BIO220 sites have been updated significantly. The materials are up to date for the current units. Please note that the new formats create a framing effect on the sidebars in Internet Explorer, this is a product of Microsoft not following W3C standards, in all other browsers it works fine.
